Don't know about that. I'll call the guy back and ask that question! Thanks!

The satellite people usually say not to paint the dome as it may affect the signal. But that is probably only a problem if the paint is metallic. A plain white or black paint would probably be okay.

Have you thought about getting a direct replacement for yours from an RV salvage yard? I googled "RV Salvage" and got a whole list of them.

I Googled the cover, but haven't checked the salvage yards! Thanks for the tip!

If the dime is okay except for the area where it mounts two options.

Take dome to an air conditioning company and they should be able to roll form a ring to go around the bottom then you can epoxy it into place.

Option 2 is to take the dome or DIY to someplace that does fiberglass work and have them wrap it with a band of matting and brush on some resin.

Third option is locate a plastics company that sells and manufactures plastic things and see if they can add something to the bottom.

Post some photos too.

With replacement being 450 there are many options we would try...being the cheap type that we are...

Would suggest taking welding wire and large washers to make safety net.

Imagine wire attaching washers together to insure they support each other.

Marc, I just called every RV salvage place I could find and nobody has one!

Joe,

I Googled the manual for the model in your original post, and found the owner's manual. The user-replaceable parts are listed on page 5-2.

The part number of the Radome Assembly (TracVision R5) is 02-0953-12.

Googling the part number, I found it for sale at www.stalkupsrv.com for $320, free shipping.

Thanks a million! I have saved the link and if I end up having to replace it then that price sure beats $450

Joe,

How did this end? New cover? Repaired old one?

Just curious in case it happens to me.

Hi Charles! I just left the aluminum strips on there and used a plastic fusing cement to repair the cracks up the sides of the dome. It seems to be holding so far!
