Unhappy Annoying buzzer is driving me nuts.......

Hello everyone!!!!
I live in a 2004 Nortwood Nash unit.In the living room/
kitchen,there is a sensor(CCI Controls LP leak detector).When it's on is
very annoying and I'd like either to turn it off or at least reduce the noise..
can I put some gray tape or if someone had the same problem may be able
to suggest some other alternative........
Many thanks in advance for your interest.......araucano.

I have to ask, if the alarm is going off........is there a problem that it detects? Bypassing a active alarm could cost you your life......
Find out why is is going off or repace it!

Your LP detector being 10yrs old may be in need of replacement. I believe they, as smoke detectors are recomended to be replaced after 10yrs of service. Yours may have served its usefull life span. I recomend replacing the Lp leak detector as well as your smoke detectors if they are 10yrs old...it may solve your annoying buzz and quite possibly save your life.
Cheers
Rick T.

Is the alarm a constant sound or is it "chirping"? The Safe-T-Alert LP detectors must be replaced every 5 years, so check the date on your CCI controls model. If it is alarming (not chirping), you really need to find out what is causing the alarm ASAP. As Palehorse89 said, your life could be in danger if there is a leak.

Do NOT put tape over the alarm.

Thumbs up Annoying buzzer is driving........

Hello!
Many thanks to each and everyone for taking the time to reply.
The unit is OK. When it goes off is because of smells inside the
RV,once I turn the A/C on or press the button a few times it
stops.........but I though that I could eliminate the darn thing.
Your input is much appreciated,araucano.

I used to vacumm mine and or blow it out with compressed air. That worked until the five year mark when it died and had to be replaced. I haven't tried it but some people have posted that heating it for a while with a hairdryer will regenerate the sensor and stop the false alerts for a while.

Although the CCI owners manual does not state a replace/expiration date, it has a 2 yr warranty. As previously posted, most do have a replacement time frame because they actually wear-out.
Please do not further consider disabling any such personal safety device, you and your loved-ones life depends on it.
A low house battery can cause such a condition you state. At 8.5 volts the unit will go to alarm mode to alert you it is not functioning properly.
If you have a pet, it can trigger the alarm by passing gas nearby, as these detectors will alarm with the detection of any combustible gas, not just LP.
As stated in the owners manual, the unit may be tested for proper operation by merely opening a butane cigarette lighter near the sensor.
