Although the CCI owners manual
does not state a replace/expiration date, it has a 2 yr warranty. As previously posted, most do have a replacement time frame because they actually wear-out.
Please do not further consider disabling any such personal safety device, you and your loved-ones life depends on it.
A low house battery can cause such a condition you state. At 8.5 volts the unit will go to alarm mode to alert you it is not functioning properly.
If you have a pet, it can trigger the alarm by passing gas nearby, as these detectors will alarm with the detection of any combustible gas, not just LP.
As stated in the owners manual, the unit may be tested for proper operation by merely opening a butane cigarette lighter near the sensor.
