Trying to figure out if I can actually walk on this roof....It's a '06 Fleetwood TT. The roof seems to be slightly bowed to allow room for the ac ductwork. I'm only familiar with the flat roof of my boyfriend's TT. And we could walk on that.... I'd hate to get up there to clean it and break something....Seems they all should be built to be walked on, but who knows....Any info would be appreciated....

We have a 5r with rubber roof and three slides. Got a ladder up the back of the trailer. I get up there every time we get ready to leave from camping to sweep off top of the slides before they are retracted. Assume it's OK long as I walk gingerly.

Sure. Rubber roofs are laid over a plywood substrate. I suppose there may be some el cheapo manufacturer who makes that substrate so thin it coud be damaged merely by stepping on it, but Fleetwood wasn't one of them.

Thanks for your responses....I got up there, and heard some cracking sounds, but was very careful where put my feet....Swept it off and inspected for cracks tears and whatever....Yup, in needs some work, but only had time to clean the slide and the top of the ac before the sprinkling started....On went the tarp and into the house we went.. Started cleaning with Dawn dish soap, and it seemed to do a good job...anyone else use Dawn?

Never used Dawn, I just use what I wash my car with. In some threads, I've read where people got the urge to "power wash" to really get the grime off. If you get that urge, just remember the word "NO". Pressure is too much from them. Plenty of thread comments about the catastrophes of doing such.

I have always washed with dish soap, love the suds and seems to clean just fine.

Dawn is ok, though very sudsy. Most any heavy duty detergent will do nicely to lift dirt out of the pores in thew rubber, e.g. Simple Green, Mean Green, Fantastik, 409, etc. Adding some bleach to kill mold is also good.

Be prepared to wash down the sides of the rig when you finish the roof - the crud that comes off will streak the sides if not removed quickly.
