Denise and I have just decided to purchase an A Class and want to find out what type of coolant was used in the 1994 Winnebago Adventurer Series. Can anyone give us the answer or where to go to look for the answer. The dash air blows cold but I think it could possibly be colder still.

For top off and occasional DIY full changes on my '65 here at the house, I use full strength Preston (or any top of the line brand) 50/50 with distilled water for all, including the RV.

I think your asking what type of refrigerant your AC is using? Not what type of Antifreeze?

Are you asking about the radiator or the A/C system?

1994 could be r-134a or it could be R-12. Ther should be a tag telling you which refrigerant. The charging connections are different so it would take some real work to charge with the wrong refrigerant fro the average shade tree mechanic.

I'd put coffee of a can of R-12. If it's not cooling at all - 2 cans. Oh, look in the vicinity of the compressor for a streak of oil that might have slung from the compressor clutch. If oil is present, you will need a compressor overhaul. But usually, just freon.

Thanks everyone, it is blowing cold air. I started the engine when it was almost 100F and after a few moments of very hot air it slowly cooled down to almost cold air. I will have to get it recharged I think but being the present owner never used the dash air I wonder if it just needs encouragement. Denise doesn't do well in the heat of summer that's why we are upgrading from Tinker.

We bought the unit and while driving it home I fiddled with the controls. The temperature lever didn't seam to be moving correctly so I pulled over and lifted the dash to have a look. The cable was not properly routed and with a few quick twists and some judicious use of zap straps I stretched the cable into a loop and affixed it to various items and now when I move the slide the cable stays still and the lever being controlled actually moves to full cool. Lots of cold air now and the balance of the drive home was very comfortable.
