Read the article from the Gazette Newspaper
Wal-Mart No Parking
in Colorado regarding the Town of Monument considering blocking overnight parking at their new Wal-Mart store. What's so ridiculous about this is due to where the stores located. It's out in the country by itself within a few hundred yards of a major intersection on Interstate 25. It's surrounded by commercial business, a large truck stop, Home Depot, etc. No residential area anywhere close.

Unfortunately The Town of Monument doesn't have a web site to allow us to comment to them. The only course I guess is through the Gazette reporter who wrote the article.

The article sounds to me like they are not going to ban it, just limit it to one section of the parking lot. That would be fine. Sounds like they want it to keep RVers from spending money elsewhere. They seem to be being level headed and common sense should prevail here. Even the sheriff's office said it isn't a prob.

Emphasis on the key words "Special Parking Area". Which means the ordinace would require the business to build or create an additional parking area (probably behind the store) for RVs to park in. Frankly, the walmart may be the only reason Monument has really any RV traffic at all. With one membership only campground in town, they really don't have any facilities to accomodate RV travelers if the walmart is stopped from allowing RVs.

I think it is interesting that you are getting pretty much the same answers here as you did on the other forum where you posted this.

The article indicates that it is not a ban, but a change requiring stores to designate an area for overnight parking.
