That's what I was thinking, but even 30. is a stretch from where I'm sitting. I can generally do ours (which is equipped with a water heater bypass) with a single gallon? If I had a more exotic system, it might take 2 gallons?

Perhaps I should mention that there is no way in hell I would drink the water coming out of any fresh water tank. I only use bottled water for drinking. I don't believe any fresh water tank is worth drinking from, no matter how much cleaning/flushing is done.

Both RV's I have are used and I have no idea what the previous owners poured through those tanks.

Second, I'm not the average/normal RV owner. I use mine 99% as my motel down on the farm, 200 miles from my home. I empty tanks in areas that nothing comes close to, maybe a snake? I have no need to dump anything at any camp site. I have hundreds of acres to dispose of gray/black tanks.

Everything gets diluted down to less than rain water when all is said and done, in the middle nowhere.

If that the case, the only thing I might be concerned with would have to do with evaporation? If the alcohol evaporates out of your W/S wiper solution over the period of a month or 2, that would pretty much leave you with 100% water, no?

No, I don't worry about evaporation. My car window washer never seems to go down unless I use it so why would the water system?

Once more, let me fill in the blanks.

I bought a piece of crap 1987 RV about four years ago that I really got screwed on. Many of the "normal" hoses/connections were altered/cut off/plugged by who knows? So, I couldn't just open drains like a normal RV. It worked fine the first years to suck a couple of gallons of pink antifreeze from the jug. Second year, stopped working. I had to buy gallons and pour into the tank and run it through the system. Not as cheap. Even the bypass for the hot water tank failed.

So, I switched to a cheaper method last year, -20 windshield fluid. And for the person that couldn't relate to what I was saying of 20+ below, thought it was a simple statement but some people need help understanding messages.

I have a well on my property that I pump water from to fill it as desired, so in spring, I run it until I know everything is beyond flushed.

This method probably won't work for city dwellers but out in the country, I use what resources I have available for free. Well is up on hillside, get it going and turn off the pump, will run for days.

No, I don't want to buy some swamp land, have it already in the form of a 1987 RV junker... But it's got personallity, even the snake that took up residence.

Your anti freeze reservoir has a tiny vent hole in it to let it breathe. The antifreeze sitting in a trap or where the water would sit just above the toilet's slide valve are completley exposed?

Set some of whatever you plan on using on an open plate and see how long it lasts? If there's anything left in a month, stick it in a freezer and see what happens...

Thanks Al, for pointing out the pitfalls of using a cheaper method. That poor old RV is on it's last leg and damage already caused is not worth fixing, as I learned the hard way.

It had a lot of abuse before I wasted my money on it. Am thinking of relocating it to another farm I have as a place to just spend the nights if need be. Will be located next to a 100+ year old cemetery I own.

May all that be there RIP, even my old RV.
