Any catastrophe adjusters out there?

Just wondering how many others out there use an RV in support of their insurance adjusting activities? If so, are there any words of wisdom as to what works best for you and why? Travel trailer, 5th wheel/dually, motorhome/toad? Even though I'm getting old(er), I am new to both worlds and would really like to hear from those in the biz already.

Air Baron,

I've done storms for the last 20 years for two different carriers. I plan to retire in 3 years and do storms. I bought a 40' Diesel Pusher this year and that's what I plan to use. Generator makes sense for storms. No electricity at the begining of a lot of storms.
Good luck with the storms....

The wife and I have been planning to get a DP and become full-timers for quite a while. I've been residential appraising for the last 15 years and decided to switch to insurance adjusting...figured it would be a worthwhile part-time job while on the road. Having a DP with a 4WD toad sounds like the best way to attempt living and working in a disaster zone. Three IA firms offered to deploy me up north for Irene, but I'm still training with daily claims and haven't pulled the trigger on the MH yet.
