Any problems getting into RV parks with an RV older than 10 years?

Unless your RV looks old don’t give the age. No one will check the title. If it does look to be old and unkept most parks will turn it away. As we travel I have seen many turned away. In the Monterey area you will see good evidence as to why parks do this. There are many in the area that drive the streets but are atrocious. I look at it like this - Would you want a house next to yours that looks to be ready to fall down at any moment. I don’t. Also with the unkept rigs you typically get the drugs and thefts.

Coyote Valley in Morgan Hill, CA didn’t ask me for a pic. They just said no. Funny thing is that we stayed there two years earlier and it wasn’t an issue when I did send a pic. Rig was around 13 years old at the time.

For the types of parks you plan to go you won't have any issues. If you don't want the elite Class A parks - no worry.

I can give you 2 perspectives on this:

1. My family owned an RV park for 24 years. We accepted most everyone. Sometimes asked at the time of reservation about the year in order to make a visual note upon arrival. As a business owner, we want your money. People who own a ten year old (decently maintained) rig have the same color money as the ones who own a $2M Prevost. So the rule is used as a tactic to vet the guest. Sending a picture is also a way to vet them. Upon check in, it was easy to say, in the very rare case, "we only have availability for 2 nights." That is, after seeing the rig and meeting the people, we could tell they might be a problem. But with that said, even the $2M Prevost owner could be a problem. Usually RV folks are pretty good people but there's always bad apples. So this "rule" was used more to have an excuse to limit potential "undesireables."

2. We have a very nice 2003 DP in exceptional shape. Most people don't know it's not a newer one. So at 16 years old, if we ever were asked, and a quick photo didn't get us in, I wouldn't want to give them my money. And that park would get a rather lengthy review on every digital platform available.

As you can see, I've never been accused of not being verbose so you can imagine how detailed my reviews would be.

A problem we have run in to is 55 and over parks. I'm a stone's throw away and my wife isn't even close. We've never had a problem there either. Want my money? Let us in. Don't want my money? Someone else will.

Bottom line, if a business doesn't want your money, why would you want to give it to them? Give your money to a business who appreciates you and your hard-earned money.

Capitalism and the Free Market System in all its Glory.

Good luck, safe travels and God speed.

Most people that ask about my truck just can't believe we came all the way from California. My response is usually East bound and Down.

Never ran into the age restriction yet.

We had our first rv, a small class A , many years up until 3 years ago. It was a 1995, and being an old car guy I kept it looking better than a lot of new rigs. Only once did I have someone look out the window of the office because of their "10 yr rule" . No other questions asked. We were fine. I totally understand why they (some) put that in their rules. Just keep it clean and well kept. Now I'm Sure as others have said there are "Resorts" who will want to see your title, current inspection report,,, whatever. Thats fine. Their property, their rules. My family and i stayed at an RV resort in San Antonio TX recently, i had a little concern with the age of my rig but these were some of the nicest folks ive ever met. I wrote this 5 star review on tripadvisor to help promote their kindness and exceptional campground:

It's called the "Cousin Eddie" rule.

I agree here. It's a business and the "rule" that's being enforced isn't a law. If a rig is 11 years old and was half a million dollars new, chances are it looks pretty good. The ones that cost this much are built to last longer and that's why people buy and keep them.

As I said, if they don't want your money, someone else will.

The thing I am always amazed about is that people with sub-10 year old coaches put up with it since about all it really does is devalue the resale price on their coaches.
