We have a "mirrored headboard" in our 5er (guess it could be worse, like on the ceiling). I really want to remove it. Anyone know how its attached/how to get it off in one piece/suggestions? I would like DH to put a shelf below the overhead cabnets but the mirror has to go first.

Hi Ed and Cheryl,
No one has responded to this post so I thought I would give it a try although I don't really know anything. My guess would be that the mirror is afixed with adhesive and might be hard to get off. You might want to call Forest River or your dealer as they would know how it is attached.

I attempted to remove a mirror from a dining area wall in a motorhome we used to have. I don't know about in your 5er, but this mirror was glued onto the wall, without the matching finished wall behind it. Hence, I didn't remove it & put the screws & holders for it back up. So much for that "home improvement".

If you are determined to remove the mirror, you should probably plan on having it break.

I did it!!! I took a thin wire and hair dryer. I placed the wire behind the mirror, pulling at each end until I hit some resistance, then using the hair dryer I heated up that area and again using a saw like motion with the wire, kept going length wise. Towards the end found I needed another set of hands to keep the mirror from falling. Between us, DH helped, the mirror was off and in one piece. It was attached to the wall with double stick spongy tape, which I removed from the wallpaper with goo gone. DH is in the process of making my shelf. Yipee!!!

Cheryl - great job! congratulations! i'm sure the shelf there will be a nice addition, albeit a little more 'modest'.

Very creative! This is a good tip. Maybe we need a spot somewhere in the forum for good fix up and repair tips.
I don't know about some of the rv designers. Why don't they go more with a plain decor that would suit most rather than fancy it up with stuff many of us don't like. Here's a thought, maybe some manufacturer could create a plain vanilla rv and then sell kits to decorate to your taste. Forest River loves headboards and ugly headboards at that. Fortunately our Cardinal has windows at the end of the bed so there is no headboard.
