Anyone ever stayed in this rest stop?

Bing Maps - Driving Directions, Traffic and Road Conditions

Looking for a place to park overnight on our way. For anyone who has stayed/rested here what were your impressions? Safe?

Looks nice, I first thought that there was a handicapped RV parking spot but looking closer I guess not. I've run on to a few of them but WA doesn't do it but I wish they would.

I'd like to know what the thing is that looks like a tent.

I had seen it around the net that NJ allows overnight parking in their rest areas except on the NJ and Garden TP and scenic overviews, but the latest I could find was from about 2009. So I called the DOT (there are an ungodly amount of depts each with their own number) and after the phone rang about 60 times a guy picked up and gave me the low down that yes, overnight is allowed except on the aforementioned sights.

Have you thought about staying overnight at the states welcome center? Most state welcome centers have free wi-fi too.
More and more states are putting in free wi-fi at the rest area's.
The handicapped RV site maybe in the parking section for semi's.

This is a welcome center. Isn't that just the fancy term for big rest are at the border?

Welcome centers are different than rest areas somewhat in name only but a lot of people forget that they can stop for free coffee or a nights sleep there.

Do you mean the blue tarp thing? Looks like it might be covering a pile of sand or something...maybe mulch or whatever if they are landscaping. Who knows.

When we're traveling, we prefer to stay in these Welcome Centers. They tend to be larger than rest areas and many have truck areas separate from the RVs which make it a little quieter.
We've never had any type of security issue and there are usually 6 to 12 other campers spending the night also.

The last one we stayed at in Connecticut, had 6 or 8 other RVs, generators running, slides out, having a great time. Gennys were quiet by 10pm and we got a good nights sleep.

I'd rather be here than all alone in the Walmart parking lot.

That sounds great Norm Mac. No chance you were at this one? I think we'll go with this rest stop rather than the Walmart.

I would take the Walmart. At least there might be some security or an occasional cop.

That rest area looks very nice. But did you notice the wacko just off the edge of it that likes to pay visits to the lone camper at around 3 am? Yes, he is there, just off to the left of the screen.

Good luck.
