If you have permission to boondock and use water: Anyone ever tried this, by using a new tarp ? Would it bend an existing tool box? Pros cons? Would actually be a cool tub.

Put some super duty jack stands under the frame before filling with water...

Sounds pretty redneck [emoji3]. Nada wrong with that.
I'd want to be sure I didn't overload and break or bend something. H2o is little over 8 lbs a gallon. 7.48 gallons per cubic foot, so about 60 lbs per cubic foot.
Could get really heavy really fast.
My truck bed is very roughly 5.5'x7'. So a foot is about 2300 lbs (didn't account for wheel well volume.
Heck that is already close to my rated bed capacity (F-250 super duty).
I know you'd just be parked, and not moving, so you should be able to go much heavier.
But I have seen a bent frame from someone grossly overloading. It had been heaped over the cab high with roofing. No not me, drove past it, had to circle back for another look.
BTW if my math is goofy let me know. Fast pass in the middle of something else.

My son did that for the ice bucket challenge when we were away a couple of years ago.
He put my stands under the frame, lined the box with tarp, filled with water. Dumped all the ice from our ice maker and with the help of a couple of buddies (one filming and the other opening tailgate) filmed it when ALL that water and some ice dumped over him.
Kid gag but they had fun, made donation to ALS and posted on facebook.

i have seen it done with cold water at a couple nascar races. pick up full of water and red necks looked overloaded

Yep, at 8.35 lbs. per gallon and, 7.5 gallons per cubic foot, and my bed on my truck is close to 5' wide, 6.5' long and approximately 2' tall. Put a tarp in that and fill it to the brim and you'd have very close to 4,070. lbs in the back of a truck that is rated at 1,500 lbs. Could you do it, of course. Would you get away with it without breaking something? Well, I'm out!
