Anyone here actually 'like' driving??
I've read so many posts saying ' I'm in no hurry so I drive 58 MPH' and such it makes me wonder if anybody actually likes 'driving' their rv or just get someplace and sit for a while? I just acquired a 2005 Airstream 26 foot with the chevy 8.1 engine and it's perfectly happy at 75+. I plan to get Toyo tires next year that have an 'N' speed rating of 87 mph so I can see what she'll really do. I love skilled performance driving and it takes the attention at 75 with an rv that you wouldn't need till 110 in a good car, for example. Fun!

Interesting question!
I L-O-V-E to drive...I have a Mustang GT (2017) with a manual trans. It's my 5th one. That car drives like warm butter on a hot bun!
Driving the RV the last 6 months is like driving the bread truck...however, the satisfaction of keeping it in the lines, proper braking, passing (or not), being passed (always), backing up into tight spaces and knowing that I have handled it well makes me very happy.
I've unwittingly gotten it up to 70 MPH and took my foot off the gas to slow down. I'm just not sure that is a safe speed in that monster rig.

Hi Vialbass(?), Yes I do the speed limit plus the required 3-5 over just about everywhere I go. EXCEPTION - I drove my previous 32ft Class A in downtown Chicago and downtown St. Louis - at those two locations I drove like a city bus driver, boy did I get strange looks from many folks who probably never saw and RV before!
I had SuperSteer Bell Cranks installed on both my Class A P30 frames, takes all the 'play' out of the front end, my RVs track better than most of my cars have.
Cheers,

Personally, I would advise you to rethink your approach. Towning your RV is NOT like driving a car. Do a little more research before you become a statistic. Especially if you are traveling with your family since they don't have a choice in the matter.

Sort of two different issues. I like driving either our other vehicles or the MH. I don't like getting pushed to 65 - 70 mph on the expressways. My reflexes are not what they were at 25 or even what they were when I retired. If I try to leave some space to account for it some moron fills it in.

I have always loved driving and still do. I had a few really hot cars back in the day and also a very fast sport touring motorcycle (still). So I guess I got my fill of fast (and the associated tickets) quite a while ago. I love towing our travel trailer, but keep it under 65 mph.

Love to drive anything - even the riding lawn mower. Have non RV vehicles that cover many decades - 1931,1949,1956,1960,2003,2009. Each is a different experience and is comfortable at a different speed. The RV is kind of a combination of the various autos. Accelerates like the 31, brakes like the 49, steers like the 56 and has the creature comforts of the 2000's!

I drive a truck for a living. I tell people that HOW I drive depends on WHAT I'm driving and whether I have passengers.
I don't drive my delivery truck like I drive my F150. And I drive differently when Pammi is with me as opposed to when I'm by myself. And, it's totally different when the TT is hooked up.
The act of driving itself, I don't mind. I actually enjoy it.
I've said many times, jokingly of course, that I'd enjoy my job a whole lot better if it wasn't for traffic and customers!

Love driving my One Ton with my 38 foot Fiver. Just retired two weeks ago, no need or desire to rush anywhere so my max speed is normally 65, but like to set it on cruise at 64 when conditions permit and because 64 is an even number. Funny thing...I see more and it seems like I get there just as fast.
Personally I really struggle with posters who regularly and proudly state that they travel at 75 mph or more. My old timer (64) mentality tells me that pulling a load at that speed is not wise for the driver, their family members aboard, or my family who you are quickly approaching from the rear. Over the years, I've seen a number of hot shots who could handle it, but somehow they don't look quite so tough laying on my prep table. Just my opinion, not trying to change any minds, just an observation...nothing more. Over the years, my prep room has given me quite an education.

I've always loved driving and have driven or ridden across this amazing country of ours a number of times.
Been in every state (except Alaska...probably the 1st trip we'll do once we retire! YOOHOO!) and look forward to doing it with the RV.
I normally stay right around 65 to 67 as that's where the old rig seems to feel the best. Of course I adjust the speed depending on traffic and conditions.
I'm at my all time happiest when I have a cup of coffee and my water bottle all set up next to me and I'm listening to my 'story' (with only one earbud..gotta keep the other ear available for engine, traffic, alarms, etc) as we're cruising down the highway.
If we're on a two lane road, I don't listen to my stories and I'm much more 'alert' as things can happen much quicker, and of course I'm driving slower then as well.
But yeah...love me some open roads...(I just sighed a large sigh since I'm still at work right now...someday soon)

Love to drive especially when I have the extra time. Been through the gamut of fast vehicles. Had them all, Corvette's, race waverunners, snowmobiles and boats actually still have a 60mph pontoon boat.
In our younger days it was a race to get from upstate NY to Disney. Had a 36' Bounder with a Triton V10. We were exactly 1404 miles away (made this trip at least a couple dozen times)it took me 22 hours most of the time best was 21 hours flat and yes that includes gas stops, tolls and traffic jams. We wanted to maximize our vacation time. Loved driving but I think it was about the challenge to see how much time I could shave off each trip. Not smart I know but I was young and...….
These days as we near retirement it's not so important. The trip we made this spring bringing the RV back north we (When I say we I mean the DW) decided we would take 4 days to get home.... What? I thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown just thinking about that. 4 days?
It was actually a lot more fun. We stopped when we felt like, for as long as we felt like. Pulled over early and cooked a nice meal each day. Very different approach but really enjoyed the drive. This rig really wants to run too I know I could beat that time with this one...…………….ah never mind

I absolutely love driving, *especially* when I'm driving our 40' Diesel pusher!
But, you'll find me at or below the speed limit (depending on conditions and visibility) up to 65 mph. 65 mph is my personal limit, no matter what's posted.
Part of what I enjoy is the risk management and decision making that keeps my family and the other people on the road safe. That's a holdover from my time as a commercial pilot, where a significant portion of the satisfaction was always ensuring that my choices and decisions got me, my aircraft, and my cargo/passengers back on the ground safely.
So, when you pass me, I'll be loving being behind the wheel just as much as you, even if I'm not going as fast. :-)
