I used one years ago for the Deer Lease so I wouldn't have to bunk inside a 1 BR cabin with 15 guys. It was GREAT, I set up a army cot, buddy heater and my cooler inside. I had a tool box in the bed so it gave me a shelf to store some of my gear on, inside the tent. It had the awning but I set up one of those E-Z Ups so I could put my 4 wheeler & grill right outside. Several guys purchased one after seeing mine. If I remember correctly, they are truck specific, you may need to find the one that will fit your truck. I never used it in hot weather so never needed AC. Like everything else now days, more expensive doesn't mean better!

Truck tent

What you need is a "Pickup TopUp" It was a fiberglass tonneau cover that raised on a hydraulic mechanism so that you could stand underneath it while in the pickup bed. 4 x 8 foot plywood bunks hung over the sides and a canvas cover with screened windows made it weather tight. It took about 10 minutes to set it up. It could sleep 4 if necessary but great for 2. I just sold mine with the 2003 F150 it was mounted on.
