I had a plant of rubarb come up in my garden and I took care it that situation, I used roundup and never had another problem .
My apple tree is doing good.
I spray it for bugs every year and fertilize it . I enjoy some great apples every year.

We're heading north toward St. Ignace. I'll honk when we pass by...
I will listen for your toot.
When you get to the Straits of Mackinaw both towns,Mackinaw City and St. Ignace and the Island are loaded with fudge shops. We call tourists "Fudgies".
Go in each shop and ask for free samples of a couple flavors . You will eat enough fudge that you wont need to buy any.
The Pink Pony for lunch is a good spot. If the weather is good get seating on the deck, it overlooks the small boat harbor. The carriage tour is a must do.
Enjoy our part of Michigan. We love it 8 months of the year.

PIES!!!! I'm a pie addict but alas a picky pie snob so it's a conundrum sometimes :-)

We are frequently in N MI and the UP. My question for those of you who live there or travel even more often in the area is: Is the aforementioned "cherry street market" pie better than Grand Traverse Pie Co? (For store bought, GTPC is the best that I've found, so far). Absolutely willing to plan special trips for what people are willing to swear is "best pie ever" :-)

Tia, and gosh I don't know whether to hope this kills the thread or not :-)

Try the apple pie in Julien, California. Claims to have World Famous Apple Pie. I would have to agree, especially when served with cinnamon ice cream.

YES, Julian has the best apple pie . Better than Moma.ever made it.

If your ever in the area stop in and visit us in Borrego Springs.
We are there every month for 1/2 of each month. Usually the first 2 weeks of the month. We are leaving Thursday for 18 days in Borrego Springs.

We are in Winterhaven from October to March with the exception of a trip home for Christmas. We will have to get together if time and schedules permit.

I live 85 miles East of Traverse City. The GT pie is great for a store bought.
When in the UP stop at Lehto's Pasties on US 2 just West of St Ignace. Carry out only and no gravy. About 15 years ago, my 1st stop there, I asked about gravy and I thought Gramma Lehto was going to throw me out. Gramma is gone now but her pasties live on. They were originally made for the miners to take into the mine and eat like sandwich, thus NO GRAVY. They would warm them on their helmet lights which was a carbon flame. Hot lunch!
