I bought some T-bones from Sam's. They were tender, but were lacking flavor compared to the ones I get from Fry's(Kroger). Cooked them the same way as always, too.

Good meat and a supermarket, never the two shall meet. You have to go to a real butchers shop any pay a bit more to get really good meat.

Case in point, the last two T-bone steaks I bought that were of the good quality set me back about $40, but were so flavorful and juicy that no sauce was needed to eat them.

I've read that Costco and Sam's always had good meat. I was disappointed. There used to be a hole-in-the-wall meat market a coupe miles from me. Don't know if they are still there but will look the next time I'm the area.

Naw, no grocery store has decent meat these days, alot of what they sell is at the low end of the Choice category, if even that. I'd wager most of the walmart meats are likely of the select variety or standard, possibly even down to the Commercial or Utility grades, or even *shudder* cutter or canner grade......

EDIT: I just found a listing, Walmart/Sam's sells Select grade beef.

I won't mention the name, but at a Texas Roadhouse Restaurant, I ordered a Top Sirloin steak. It was tough, so I complained to the server. She wanted to know if I wanted another one. Told her: "Why would I want to wait another 30 minutes to get another tough steak." I just ate what my GF wasn't going to eat.

Reminds me of one of the Claim Jumpers I went to. First one I went to had great steak, second one had mediocre steak.

Never been to a Claim Jumper, but I do know that Outback is over priced. I haven't been to Sizzler in a long time, but I have had good steaks there. It would be a great adults only place. <wink>.

Outback has always been overpriced, went there once, never came back. Sizzler, the last time I had it was probably slightly less flavorful than my shoes.

My brother is obsessed with money. When I was speaking to him, I got him a $20 gift certificate to Outback for a Xmas present. I wonder how much it actually cost him to get out the door?

Knowing him, he probably threw it away instead of letting the moths out of his wallet.

Yeah, I'm bad... but I'm good at it.

The last time I was at Sizzler was in 1972. I don't think I knew what a good steak was at that age.

Could be worse, I just found several Borders gift cards I never used because I forgot where I put them .

Heh, that would be an apt description, though I'm supposed to not have these problems for another 30 years .

I went to a Claim Jumper for the first time a few weeks ago. The steak didn't hold a candle to Outback. It was okay, but didn't knock my socks off.
