Glenn, westbound I-8 into Yuma. At what speed can you pull Telegraph Pass with your toad? With a new engine, I didn't want to push it, but I was down to <40.

To be perfectly honest, I had the same problem with my 5er when it came to wind.

I started this "What If" thread and got a variety of responses. Maybe I should look into some.

http://www.irv2.com/forums/f258/what...is-141538.html

I don't want to cut down on reliability, but I would like more pulling power when needed. Maybe a turbo or centrifugal supercharger or at least headers.

I'm also watching this thread.

If you want pulling power, look at the torque specs on a 04 1/2 to 07 Cummins td. 610 ft lbs. 325 hp. I know of a few guys that put the older Cummins into various pickups and changed up injectors and such and achieved amazing results. Just google the Cummins forum and there is alot of info on there. My 04 1/2 has that engine and the 48re trans.(4spd od) and would pull my fiver over any hill without much slowdown. Also got 12 mpg on average.

I used to visit the CTD forums all the time. Lot of good and $$$ info out there.

The only emission tests I need for my `97 is the opacity test and a lookie-look for a CAT. Are newer diesels(other than CA) tested for other things that aren't needed?

The only reason I used mine for an example was in 04 1/2 they upped the hp and torque and made them quieter. I think they meet most emissions standards as well. That is here of course not sure of there. Mine very rarely puts out smoke and only on a real foot in it on a hard pull moment it does.

Ahhh... I remember going that way to head out to glamis when I lived in college area. Less hills than I hit now going through the badlands. But back then I had my F250 extra cab long bed & it leaked oil & would smoke when going uphill. At least it cut back on the tailgators! lol

My DD had her 15th Bday on the 13th (before concrete) it rained that day so the entire yard was mud! Her and 28 friends jumped in 50 degree water then out to the hot tub 102 degrees. Back and fourth until the tub water was to low for the pump. She spent a week scraping mud off the patio! Let's not be overly critical on the concrete job I don't plan on going into business doing it but the result was way better than I hoped for.
Total time invested 5 weeks (1 full week of 14 hour days) 4 weeks of 5-6 hours after work plus the 14 hour days on all weekends. (at least 6 bottles of Motrin)
Saved over 50K by doing it myself.

Hope to see you all at my Annual 4th of July Party! ( had to make next years better so Cliff will bring his lovely wife back!
So how many 50amp full hookup sites did you install out there by the cement pond?
Looks great.

The load center is 125amp so I could put in 2-50's but then I wouldn't need the house. Hey now that's a possibility- knock it down and add 4 sites on the other side of the pool.

Have to charge a very modest KOA fee of 1k per night but no extras for wifi or kids and pets

I've never gone into Yuma from the east on I8, so not familiar with that hill. I do travel the I8 from Yuma to San Diego quite often and see a lot of 35 to 40 mph in the mountains between El Centro and SXD. There again about the same with the V10.

My previous coach was a Sea View with the 275 horse version of the V10 and 18,000 chassis and had performance very similar to the 8.1 in the 22,000 chassis. In either case you won't have the power to climb hills, or fight heavy headwinds.

I was inquiring for the 'GRAND OPENING' party not the yearly rate.
