Same here.

Another winter of watching the rain fall and again wondering why I'm not south of the 45th.

In the picture the house in which our friends Lloyd and Theresa live in is across the street from the store and behind the white building with the wood false front. The blue is the living room of their house. The population of the village went up 3% when they moved there.
Curious? If it's wood and on the front why is it false...or is it really the back?

Just thought I'd but in here... Since it finally dropped into the 70's. Winter's coming... gotta ruffle my feathers and prepare.

Geez I thought I killed it! Then you guy's had to do the paramedic thing. And you didn't even use Bacon in the revival process. Oh well, winter is coming and we need something to do.

Just finished my first time winterizing the pool!

Just have to wait till spring now to see how much it's going to cost me to repair everything that froze that I didn't think to do.

When we lived in North Ontario io io my older brother had an inground pool and he would throw a couple of logs and a few inflated inner tubes onto the surface of the water. He claimed it kept the ice from breaking things.

Actually, once you drain down the pool below the return jet, drin the filter, blow out all the lines (I use a shop vac with the blow side) for both the solar heating and pool circulation, it's fairly simple. Disconnect pump, add 1/2 a jug of antifreeze to the pump, add a cup to the filter, add a 1/2 jug to the underground pipes, cap the jet and plug the skimmer with an expandable bottle. Remove the ladder and put the winter cover on.

There you go. Pool winterizing 101. Used to cost me $180 to have someone do it. It cost me $56 for antifreeze and chemicals and I have 1/2 left over for next year.

Just can't get my head wrapped around all those steps to winterize your pool. That would have been a three day job for me!

Well thanks for the offer, years ago family voted for boat over pool. Boat fairly easy to winterize. Place on trailer, pull out of water, pull out the plug!

That's funny. We had a boat and sold it once we put the pool in. Bought it new in 06' and sold it 5 years later for half what I paid for it with only 69 hours on it. It was in show room condition. When we put the pool in 4 years ago, we used the boat 4 times the next year. That next year, we bought our first coach. That next year, we used the boat once. With my payments and winterizing, it cost me just under $5000 a year to keep the boat. The way I figured it, when you divide the cost to keep it by the one use, that one outing cost me $5000. That's an awful expensive day on the lake.

That was my 4th boat and we spent 10 years on our lake so it wasn't that we didn't enjoy boating. I kind of got tired of putting it, taking it out, cleaning, polishing, packing and unpacking putting the covers on/off all by myself. It's funny how everyone disappears when you get back to the house after a day on the water.

I have to admit, now having the pool, it's easy to come home, change, grab a beer and into the pool in about 5 minutes. I wouldn't even have my covers off the boat yet. The pool is a salt water one so regular maintenance is a breeze.

Now, since we have a coach we enjoy, the pool gets used less. What's next? Sell the house? LOL
