Lynne.

I looked at the unit style you mentioned and it looks like a good fit for a mutant. Hope it works out for you.

Possum,

I decided to make a list of what would go into the basement storage and decided there was not enough space. Gold clubs won't fit, these compartments are small. No room for a foldable ladder so decided to keep looking. I am going to look at states closer to me so I can get there over a weekend.

I did learn some things though. Storage is very important. I am narrowing it down and will find it when it is right. Lynne

Lynne, if you are looking at the gassers, You may look at Winnebago Adventurers. I owned one as our first coach and found them to be pretty good for storage. Another would be the Holiday Rambler Vacationer. I had one of those as well before I stepped into the larger Diesel Pushers. I also preferred the 8.1 litre - V8 Vortec over 6.8 litre V10 Ford. Less noise on climbing hills and less heat into the front cabin.

We have an older Adventurer and we have adequate storage and we can get the clubs in on the rare occasions we want to carry them.

We have the 8.1 but with a full banks kit and I agree on the lower noise & easier hill climbing. A couple we traveled with had the V10 and he couldn't keep up on the mountain highways so he ended up being the leader and we followed him. We really like the comforts of ours.

Thank you, that helps a lot. This is new to us and we are trying to learn whatever we need to know so we can make the best decision. Looked at a 2014 today that is absolutely lovely but has a few things I don't like including the price. The reason we want used is because everything we have is paid for and we don't want to start retirement with payments on a MH. Simply will not do it.

So a used gasser is the way we will do this. I like some of them too, not wild about all the fancy stuff on the new ones. Just more stuff to break. Advantages to both I guess, just need to know what is important to you.

Thank you and have a great evening, Lynne

You may want to wait until you retire to buy your coach. Then you can travel anywhere to get what you want. In my 21 years of retirement I have purchased RV,s in FL,AZ,ND,OH and even 1 in MI. Just a thought, it worked for us.

Now we return to the regularly scheduled Thread but we will break in immediately with any updates in “The Search for the Perfect Motorhome”

Psst , Lynn… Maybe you could take up miniature golf and you wouldn't need as much storage space…

Still killing this thread after 9657 posts…

t55watson,

Here are the reasons we do not want to wait to purchase.

Three years ago I was involved in an accident and almost became a quad. Thirteen months later I was broadsided again. Thirty days later I was broadsided again. Lucky?, more than anyone can know. Before this I was willing to wait until retirement to "start living my life". After something like that where I was not at fault in any of those three accidents "waiting" to live is no longer an option.

We also need time to learn how to do this. We both camped and TT and pop-upped when living at home but this will be our first ever MH. It is exciting! I want to travel and see things all over our country and I am no longer willing to wait until I retire.

We have been saving for years, paid everything off, and have the cash for this and the first 2 or 3 years of costs (we believe). It seems all I do is work. I am in the medical field and there are too many days where patients are just dying under my hands. The stress is huge and the workload to intense. I need the break now, not in three years. I had a right ventricular ablation on Dec 22nd, I cannot afford to wait any longer.

We don't want to just get into this thing and drive away. We want to take short trips and learn how it drives, how it works. We plan to take classes in driving the MH. I have seen and been in enough accidents to last me a lifetime so this is my request. I have driven a MH once and did fine but it is a MH and we will be towing a car behind on a dolly.

Besides, camping is fun and I want some fun. When I was laying there after the first accident waiting for emergency personnel to come help, I was so scared. I thought, if I die, all I will ever done is WORK. Not really, but it crossed my thoughts.

There are so many fascinating people out there to meet. I want to meet them. I want to sit around a campfire and watch the flames and drink a wine cooler. I want to roast marshmellows on the sticks my DAD made over 45 years ago. I want to see a different horizon, see a beach and walk upon it. Walk among the trees and listen to a water fall.

Long I know, but some of the reason why now. I can wait on the rig maybe another year if I don't find it in 2015. After that I will have even more money saved probably buy a more expensive rig, depends on what I find.

I will find it when it is meant to happen. Larry, those are my husbands clubs and they are sacred. Besides, I love him and look forward to being out there with him.

Will see you all another time, have a great evening and morning, I will be at w--k. Lynne
