Guns don't kill, bullets do! However, you need the gun to make the bullets move very fast. A handful of bullets isn't that much of a deterrent and throwing them doesn't really work that well either.

I bought my first firearm just after my first motor home. And yes, I know the risks - it is the last resort. I support the NRA before and after my purchase.

It was estimated some years ago that at least 50% of RVer's have a firearm with them. Just leave it to the thieves to figure out which ones!

If you have problems, call 911 and follow their advice. They will send people with guns immediately, if needed.

I don't carry a firearm in the rig. Mostly because I frequently stay on military posts. Usually, the post commander looks with disdain on firearms being brought on base. I'd rather not become personal non grata than force the issue.

Yes we are armed but we do not overnight in WalMarts or roadside rest areas. Learn to aviod potential hazardous situations its 2012 not the1950's.

One of the most magnificent home defense fights involved my daughter's cat Mika. She weighted all of 5 pounds. My daughter opened her door and out went their Catahola hound. A neighbor was walking her dog. Well the dogs were at each other instantly. The owners were trying to separate the animals when this tiny streak of gray fur landed on the strange dogs head and preceded to rake his nose with claws and mouth. Two seconds of savage attack by the cat, and the strange dog fled in confusion yelping all the way.

The tiny cat stuck its tail straight up and strutted back into the daughters house proud as punch.

Roy, I admire your courage but must frown on your naivete' if you feel that way. Some of the locations around the US are just dangerous. Too many years on the job as a LEO has taught me that some of the most beautiful cities in the States change completely after dark. I expect I will never get to travel into Canada because I am too aware (I don't think it is paranoia, just cautious) of what CAN go wrong and don't want to risk jail time by bringing a gun into your country.
I realize you, as a Canadian citizen, cannot bring a firearm into the US and obviously don't want to. However if you travel here, and we certainly hope you do, please keep in mind we have a much higher crime rate here than in your beautiful nation. We are not proud of it of course, but it is a painful fact.
