Auto generator start/stop settings

I want to set my RV's built-in Onan auto gen so that it starts when the batteries are down to half charged and stop at 3/4 charged. But the gen display panel only sets in minimum/maximum voltages. How can I translate 1/2 charge level to a voltage number like 10 or 10.5 or 11 volts for example

I'm curious why you don't want to fully charge them?

That seems really high. Doesn't it go down to less than 12 volts when charge drops to less than 75%?

Because I get free electricity from my solar panels, but sometimes I need a boost in the middle of the night. By 9 AM they get fully charged from the sun.

I'm not sure if this helps, but my generator won't start unless I have at least 11.2 volts reading on my display panel (Magnum). It will auto start there or shutdown the inverter. Since I typically deal with quite hour issues (or don't want it to wake my family), I have the the system just shut everything down at 11 volts.

I guess you could just use the low voltage start up and the quiet time settings, if you have them, to shut the generator down at a certain time regardless of the charge state.

A max or shutoff voltage is hard to define, since you can't measure the "at rest" voltage (which is what the tables show) while the charger is running. The charger produces around 13.6v even during float charge, so that's the least you will see until the genset stops.

RobbyII's voltage table looks unusual to me as well.

I think this one is more credible

I leave my onan set to factory spec which uses the fuel gauge type bars as charge indicators, three bars is full charge and the EC30 starts the gen at one bar. I've tested the system four cycles and monitored voltage to see if I needed to change the start, stop voltage. It starts at 11.9 and stops at 12.6 every time so I'm going the leave it alone for now. I don't know how the EC30 sees 12.6 with the gen running because my coach battery indicator shows 13.6 but the unit does shut down when the batteries are if fact topped off and my charger has gone into float mode.

The older (2004 vintage) Xantrex AGS for my Onan doesn't have a shut-off voltage. Once the AGS starts the genset after a "low voltage" condition, it runs for a pre-determined time.
