Automatic Generator Starter

Hi Everyone,
Hi, I have a Onan 4000 Microlite in my RV, it is a MicroLite/MicroQuiet Generators MicroQuiet 4000 Quiet Gasoline Series RV QG 4000

I want to install something that will start the generator when the cabin gets to a certain temperature - like this model:
Magnum Energy ME-AGS-S Auto Generator Start Controller (AGS Controller - Standalone Version) for ME Series, MM Series, MMS Series, MS Series, MS-PAE Series and RD Series, includes AGS module, Remote on/off/test switch, switch bezel, a 25' 6-wire cable, and has basic adjustments starting on battery voltage or temperature.

The generator is original to my rig which is a 2000 Safari Trek and it is running great and has low hours on it. I am trying to keep my two cats cool when i am away from the RV.

Thanks for your help!

You mentioned the product that I would recommend. Go for it!

What about the Onan EC-30W? Have you checked that out yet? Mine is a diesel Onan but it might also work for gas. That is the best I have found. Easy to install and works reliably. That is what I use for my pup. I found my Xantrex AGS to be not so reliable even though it has the ability for temp or battery. Too many people had issues with it not working right on temp. The Onan module is what I found so I don't worry anymore.

After doing my research, the EC-30W is the way that I'm going to go with my propane powered 6.5K Marque. That way I have just one factory service center to deal with and they can't blame the other manufactor.

thanks everyone! WhenI recently had my generator in for repair the shop told me that my generator was too old to install the auto gen start - I like the idea of using a gen start built by onan - they ought to know if it will work on the 15 year old generator that I have!

Hello, Your generator is not too old. The Magnum AGS (and other AGS stand alone modules) will work fine with your generator.

where to purchase Onan auto gen start

Wireless Generator Auto-Start EC-30W - RV Wholesalers Parts Store

This is a link to buying the Onan EC-30 and it is $750 - google will give you a few other sellers and some are a little less - like $695.

Shop around on the web for best prices. You also will need the Y harness sold separately to connect. It isn't cheap but it is certainly worth every penny not to worry about it working.

Google "onan ec30 price". This was the best price $272.00. I don't need the wireless, I wouldn't be able to find the clicker when I needed it.
