a wind gust tore the awning off my motor home while traveling east on I80 in winnemucca Nevada. I am trying to find a way to ship it home. anyone with shipping info would be appreciated. would I be safe tying to roof for 400 mile trip home. could I strap it to the AC units. any ideas helpful.

I would think ABF which is a freight line could ship it.

I helped a friend once get his awning that blew off inside his trailer.
It wasn't easy but we did get it in there.

Could you remove the damaged fabric from the awning hardware, and re-install the hardware to the side of the RV.

Ya, could you not simply put the roller back on empty?

Do you have roof rails? If tied down long way (front to back) I see no reasons why you couldnt have it on the roof.. But only if you have rails to lash it too.

Keep in mind if you do that you risk tearing up your AC, antennas and possible roof damage. Not to mention a host of serious issues if it comes off the roof and hits a car while going down the road. I'd seriously recommend getting a quote on having that sucker shipped and then compare the cost of shipping and repair to buying a new awning.

I wouldnt tie to them.. the AC cases is rather flimsy, and the antenna is as well... You could find a way to strap it to the frame underneath staying away from heat.

I requested qoutes from 3 shipping companies, none responded. we did manage to slide through the drivers window and lay on floor. Thanks to all for comments or I would have tied it to the antenna and AC.
