Awning support arm

Does anyone know how to repair the stripped out screws that hold the awning support arm in place?

Pictures of the problem may help to give an answer. Are the screws in metal or fiberglass? There are a lot of awnings and arms out there.

Possibly drill out the stripped hole(s) for the next size up screw. Might be able to just use the next screw size up...depending how thick the attachment material is.
