Back up Camera

On our 2005 Dolphin Motorhome our back up camera is only showing half the screen. Not sure what happened or how to fix it. Any suggestions? The camera part works it just something has distorted the screen.

Hello and . We are glad to have you join us here and we look forward to reading of your adventures and experiences. I am sure you will enjoy the website and forums. Good luck, stay safe and keep us posted.
Be sure to try it at different times as I have found that certain glare and reflections cause lines and blackouts. If it is a true problem, it could be the camera has had water intrusion.

Check that all connections are clean and making good contact. My picture quality and size can vary, then I hit a bump in the road and I have a full/clear picture. By the way welcome.

I learned a trick from an old race car mechanic a while back when I had no picture at all, yet everything else was working on the multifunction unit. He said to kill the power to it for a few minutes and allow it to re-set. Worked like a champ and I have a rearview again. Not sure this would work for yours, but it won't cost to try.

I have the problem of water accumulating on my rear camera while driving in rain or a mist. I can still see the tow. But, I can't tell anything about the connections.

Things to check

I agree with the fellow that suggested turning it off for a few minutes and then turn it back on. If it works, great, but it's not a long term fix.

With the older monitors, that's usually an indication of a failure with the high voltage circuit in the monitor itself. May be repairable at a TV repair shop.

If you have access to another monitor or a shop, try plugging it into a different monitor (or have a shop do it). If the problem persists, you'll know it's the other end.
