Use Yelp

Go to www.yelp.com and find Bill Gardiner RV in Lafayette, IN and place your review there. They are only allowed to filter a small number of posts, and even if they do a savy yelper can still 'un-filter' them.

This link should take you right there: Yelp | Search Businesses In Lafayette

Thanks guys.

I do feel like I am a little at fault here. I still like to see the good in people and trust that a man's word is his bond.

My conscience told me a couple times to walk away and I regret that.

I just hope that I can detour others from going there.

After my experience, everything that I've heard about him from others who know him has been negative.

Another mistake I made was telling them that I knew nothing about RVs, I told them about my job and how well I'm doing for myself and that I love my Winnebago. Bill must have saw dollar signs and me being a woman, he figured he'd take advantage.

I've definately learned my lesson. Always get a written estimate even if it seems you're being pushy, and at first signs that something is wrong, drive away and go somewhere else who would appeciate your business and repeat business.

Also, I made a typo. The bill was for $1200 and with Bill's "kindness" discount of $50 makes $1150 (not $1250). I couldn't figure how to edit my post.

If you are a Good Sam or FMCA member, you can write their hotline to help recoup or arbitrate your case. I read in their magazines all the time about this happening and their successes. I doubt they post all the ones that don't go anywhere, but I can imagine RV businesses know if a large RV membership company contacts them, that represents a large amount of business they won't see due to poor exposure. I can see why they cave and settle.

Just a thought.

Sorry for your troubles, sad that people are so money hungry that they have to take advantage of a woman. Sorry times now. I'd get quotes from several dealers in the future and in writing for things I need done. Good luck. Not everyone is that dishonest, there are good dealers as well out there. Not sure where, but there must be.

I posted a response about my buddies travails with his new heartland landmark on rv.net and the president of the company pm'ed me ...

Skeptic that I am - didn't think it really was the pres...
so I checked with my bud and sure enough his contact said his pres had called him about a report on the web so post up in lot's of rv forums...

I would like to know where bad dealers are, just as I would like to know where good ones are !
