Bad Day on I-5 Central CA Today.

While returning from Basalt today traffic suddenly stopped and after about a mile we reach the peak of the rise and discover what was left of a toy hauler with a fiat in it.

Looks like they swerved up embankment and rolled back onto freeway.

Truck top side up but front banged up but did no look like it rolled so maybe just a "G ticket".Click image for larger version

We saw a similar incident on I-15 last year. The construction on most of these toy haulers looks scary.

All the weight goes either on the rear axle or behind the axles of RV style toyhaulers. This makes the pin weight very light and therefore the trailer hard to control. Any gooseneck or 5th wheel style trailer needs at least 20% weight on the pin.

May be why it ran up the embankment.

Local CHP is one of our customers so will need to check in later to see if we can find anything out.
