AARP/Hartford also declined to insure my one ton. Just their policy.

On the one ton issue, they said the policy was based on GVWR. Over 10,000# and the answer is NO.

If they are going after the AARP members, they will find a large number of them are RVers and have 1 ton trucks over 10,000# GVWR. This kind of approach by the insurance industry and some of the licensing/registeration practices by some states are one reason people choose to tow over ratings with a 3/4 ton truck.

As we were shopping for insurance (State Farm's Harris County [Houston], Texas rates had finally reached the tipping point), any number of insurers would not insure our Dodge Ram 3500 dually (GVWR over 10,000 lbs). We wound up with Good Sam VIP (GMAC) on all our vehicles except my BMW K1200GT motorcycle, which they would not insure - Progressive covers it.

I hate dealing with insurance, but it's a necessary evil!

I finally got to talk with the agent. They lost my bills but are sending me a check. The check is in the mail. I also talked with another insurance company and if I change now I will lose a lot of money. I have to wait until January 2006 and August 2006.

Actually, most insurance companies will refund your unearned premium should you change policies before the renewal date. State Farm refunded ours.

I was an Allstate agent for seven years in California, and don't think we didn't care about your business. Each state is different, though, with different laws, so I can only speak for Allstate in CA. Property claims were paid by Allstate, not the agents, and after saying all this, I insure my RV with the Campbell group an out-of-state carrier. Allstate doesn't specialize in RV's and their policy isn't competive! I've also heard very good things about Good Sam. Also, the problem may be with the Claims department and the agent is often powerless to affect what Claims does and what they decide.

This claim got put on his desk and lost. What I am not too happy about it took me almost two weeks the get up with him. I am suppose to have a check tomorrow. What if I wait a couple of months to pay the premium when it comes due in January.
