Bad Power Converter

I have a bad power converter, magnetak ser 6300, mod 6345, 45 amp. My rv is a 1999 winnebago brave se, which is set up with 30amp hook up only. part store is suggesting switching to a 50 amp service. what is your thoughts.

You can replace the old Magnetec 6345 for a lot less than the price of converting the entire RV to 50A hook-up. Are you sure he doesn't mean changing the converter from 45 amp to 50A? That's a much different thing.

50A shore hook-up is a good upgrade if you go to places that have 50A shore power available and don't mind the expense of the upgrade (or the more expensive campsite). The question is whether you need it or not. For example, if the coach has two a/c units and you are often in hot weather, it may well be worth it.

Did they give you price quotes either way?

I replaced my converter a couple months ago. Installed a 55 amp Power Max three stage converter. $130 from Amazon.

Coach 12 volt power upgrades – 1999 Southwind 35S

6345 was 510dollars or the 50amp 336 plus also new pig tail

$510, are they installing it? I replaced my 6345 last fall with the recommended PD4645 for ~$220 including shipping from Amazon. Had it in 2 days and took me less than 1 hour to replace it.

that is for the 6345 only
