Bad Weather Driving Help

Because we are all at the mercy of Mother Nature, I wanted a live weather radar overlay of a normal GPS navigation device to avoid extreme
weather while traveling. There aren't any
unless you purchase a very expensive marine unit. There are many programs that stand alone but none that you can view your present road position in relation to current live weather movement. I just found an excellent iPhone/iPad App that shows current extreme weather and also shows your current road position. It will indicate your position to oncoming weather so you can avoid a threatening situation. It only has major interstates now but there may be additional secondary roads added. if you have a iPhone/iPad, this may interest you for $4.99.
Link to Radar Pro follows.

Have you tried Weatherbug? It'll show radar of weather (real time) overlaid on a map of your position. We use it all the time on the droid phone to keep track of weather patterns and rain storms. Free app too.

NWS - Doppler Radar National Mosaic

and There is another I used to use but I can not find it (I like this page better anyway)

This is a radar mosaic built of weather radar responses from around the contential US (ConUS) which allows you to follow storms as they cross the country.

From this page you can also link to other "smaller range" like "Southeast" or "Northwest" (close ups in short)

And from there to various state and specific radar "towers"

A very useful page. They have both looping and static maps, the link is static,

Another app for the Droid (maybe Iphone?) is Raindar. Uses Google maps for the base, uses phones GPS to plot your location and has storm tracking so you can see where the core of the storm is headed.
