Banks Exhaust problem

We have a 2003 Dolphin, 496 motor, with a Banks Exhaust system. The right side keeps burning out the O2 sensor. The mechanic seems to think it's something to do with condensation from the exhaust. He's saying it's Banks that needs to do a fix, Banks says no. Any ideas?

Could be the location of the sensor. May need to be higher on the pipe/header to keep dry.

yep, if it is at a 90degree angle (or lower) it will get more moisture . Common problem on ethanol tuned cars with less than quality exhaust designs.

Which Banks exhaust package is it? The full kit with headers, or "Cat Back" only. For the full kit, you may have cause to blame Banks, but Cat Back, probably not.

Is your mechanic absolutely sure it is a moisture problem? My neighbor has the 8.1 Chevy Workhorse chassis and I helped him install the Banks headers two years ago. I know he has over 10,000 mi on this system and has had no problems. If your mh has a full dual exhaust system, I would have the catalytic converter checked for partial blockage on the side burning the 02 sensor out

Any chance you have bad head gasket and burning antifreeze on that side. It would explain why only one side is doing it.

The thing that baffles me about the moisture diagnosis is the 02 sensors are mounted in the "TOP" of the pipe that connects the Banks header to the existing exhaust system. They are in the top aren't they

Nope, no chance, it doesn't use water, & mechanic checked that.
