I have a 2012 travel trailor that has a dead battery.I thought keeping the power on will keep it charged up.

When I was new to RVing I had a similar issue with my new at the time travel trailer. It was plugged into shore power, but the battery was still dead. It turned out that one of the neighbor pulled the emergency disconnect cable for the electric trailer brakes, which discharged the battery at a much faster rate than the converter/charger could keep up with. You may want to check that.

Or it may just be that your power converter/charger is not working. A quick check with a voltmeter at the battery(s) will tell you. Should be around 13.6v when plugged in and charging. You should also check the water in the cells - if it gets too low they won't charge or produce power. Add distilled water as needed.

Last, if you have a battery disconnect switch, in most RVs it needs to be left ON for charging to work.

The two answers may very well be the problem; for me, it was the two batteries. You see, factories do not install batteries, dealers do. My dealer found the cheapest batteries on the face of the earth. Will I buy from that dealer again.

Have you checked to see if the converter is on. It should humm. If not you might check the circuit breaker for the converter.

That just happened to me on this outing. When I got to the campground the batteries were at 11.99 volts. I pluged it into the AC and the batteries did not charge. I found a 30 Amp fuse tucked into the battery box that was blown. Replaced the fuse and the batteries charged.

Ok check power going to the converter I have 120v ac coming in and 13.6 Dc coming out at the battery with still connected to the post.

When I disconnect the red terminal I have 20 v Dc. I have one red wire coming out of my camper Were the battery at.Then it's going to a copper bar that feeds four separate terminal one going to the battery. Out of the four terminal it reads 13.6 then out of the terminal to the battery I have 27 Vdc is this right? Can we post pictures ?
