So when you get your tank filled, you make sure all appliances that could draw from the tank are shut off? This would usually only apply to the fridge right?

We filled at a local hardware, rental place and I sat right in the rig. I will be outside from now on, had no idea. Thank you for this post.

You shut of appliances that have spark ignition and open flame, along with the main propane tank valve. Just closing the tank valve doesn't stop the ignition spark.

U Haul requires all occupants be outside the vehicle. I'm not sure if others do.
