As an EMT I can promise you most facilities will not use your USB flash drive. Too many opportunities for computer viruses to infect the hospital system.
Runners and cyclers who do not carry wallets opt for the Road ID. It comes in many forms, bracelet, necklace, anklet. All first responders are trained to look for IDs such as these. The front on the bracelet tag has your name and a contact number to call a loved one or friend. THe back has a website and a passcode where they can access your medical history, medications, additional phone numbers, Doctors name and insurance policy numbers. By the time you arrive at the hospital all is known and relatives have been notified.
