Best RV Show to Attend

I apologize if this is the wrong forum for my question. I'll happily move the thread to another location if you can provide direction.

I'm at the very start of researching the purchase of a full-time, 4-season RV (5er or Class A). We are 3-5 years from retirement and are considering our options.

We will attend the show in Hershey in 2013 (not able to go this year) and we plan to attend a show here in Denver. I believe that is in January.

Are there any other "must-attend" shows that we might consider? Location is not important.

Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mspain9089,
Consider the Florida (Tampa) RV Super Show. Go to Florida RV Trade Association - 2013 Florida RV SuperShow for details. The Tampa show is larger than huge. It is humongous. I go every year and find there continues to be much to see, do and consider. I learn a lot each year.

If you go, plan on spending the entire 5 days at the show. You'll need the time to get the most out of your visit.

Be careful going to the Tampa show. They flood the area with subliminal messages and special air that will make you want to buy an rv. Seriously, we thought Tampa was a better choice than Hershey when we were looking.

Make sure the show[s] you go to have Seminars. They can answer many questions that you have. BEFORE you buy anything, rent the type of RV that you may buy and go on a small trip with it. A lot of dealers will give you credit for the rental if you buy from them.
Good Luck

I second this advise! You should attend an FMCA Convention. Over a span of several days they will have many seminars on subjects important to coach owners. Much of this would also apply to 5ers also. Any of the regional rally's would be ok but the convention is bigger with more available. There are also show coaches brought by dealers and manufacturers. There is a rally every year just called "The Rally" that is for all RVs.

We've been to the Tampa show for the last 2 years but only for 1 day.
I thought I saw someplace they had onsite RV parking with hookups, or is it only the dry parking in the parking lot?

The Tampa fairgrounds has full hookups for vendors only. If you go in with a group rally, electric may be available.

Around being the north east. Others are bigger, I have heard. In theory Hershey is where they show most of the new years units.
I will be there this year, 3rd in a row.

I've been to the Hershey show the past three years and this year will be the fourth year. I love the setting, dealers and the deals. Anyone who goes there won't be disappointed.

We are also attending the Hershey show for the 1st time and like Mspain9089 are looking to purchase a class A RV for full-time four season travel. I have already retired and my wife is planning on retiring next June so we are only 9 months away from following our dream. We're hoping to purchase a 3 or 4 year old RV. Our plans are to attend the show from Friday to Sunday, thanks for the suggestions regarding the seminars, we will certainly attend as many as we can. Any other suggestions or thoughts about how to get the most out of the show.

Cheers,

Michael and Christine
