best way to rid of pesky tiny ants????
Hello everyone!
Thanks a LOT!!!!! for your help during my travels,had a great time in Breaux Bridge,La and also in Texas,Rockport,San Antonio.
Back in Fl and I'd like to find out:how to get rid off the tiny ants without
using nasty pesticides?Many thanks once again...araucano.

Not too many options....setting those little ant traps back in the corners of your cabinets is the best option.
Of course, you want to avoid them coming into the RV....so don't leave out any food or open containers that might attract them. They can make their way up and into the RV through a variety of ways.....even just tall grass....and once you get a couple....they start that little "Ant highway"  thing going on....and then you've got them by the dozens, hundreds!
Just be thankful that they aren't the Fire Ants  ...these guys don't bite!

Spread some Borateam detergent on the ground, jacks, hose, power cord and cable if you are using it and this will stop ants and other insects from entering the coach. Also be careful not to park where tree branches touch the coach.

I found that using a shotgun w/ bird shot wouldn't do the trick. While it did kill some of the noxious critters, it produced holes in the floor of the RV that just served to allow more to enter.

The good news is that you didn't try to pick them off one at a time with a .22.

we had ants in Iowa near Clear Lake one year I had sprayed the ground around the tires and jacks and still they showed up. Turns out the little buggars were coming down on a single twig that was brushing the side of the coach from a tree that we were parked near. I ended up spraying the trail they were using with Windex (it killed them!)

We use a product called Terro ...
We put a drop on a small piece of aluminum foil and then place the foil next to the trail ... it takes a day or two but they do go away ...
You can generally buy Terro in Farm Stores, Walmart, True Value, etc.
We use it in the motorhome and the stick house

I haven't tried this yet, but I read on another forum that you can sprinkle Comet cleaner around the tires, legs & hose & cord and that they won't cross the Comet.
It might be worth a try.

I use "Raid" ant and roach spray for the immediate on slaught of the little critters and then about 10, or so, fresh "Combat" ant traps placed throughout the coach.
We have had so much rain in coastal main this season some folks in a park model trailer had them in hugh numbers. She was almost frantic when she came to me and I gave her the above items, which I had on hand. In two weeks they were all gone  . They were able to resume a nomal life.
Some folks place a small ring of vaseline around the water hose and the power cord. It would be a lot of work to do this on jacks and wheels  .

Sounds weird, but I have used (with success) used coffee grounds to rid these pesky "sugar ants". sprinkle them around near the tires, or their little home, if you can find it, and they seem to take off quickly. its probably not as good as pesticides, but that is what you were asking for (non pesticide solutions). We would dump grounds near the steps where sugar ants would congregate. they were gone in hours. This one is a trick my parents used back in the 'olden' days of the 70's (ha!)

I usually just grind them into the carpet
