Beware of Good Sam Membership!

I renewed this by mistake. When I got the new cards, I immediately called and cancelled the membership. The gentleman I talked to said "no problem" we will cancel it and refund your money.

They didn't.

After waiting a couple weeks, I called and the woman I talked to said No. It was nonrefundable. Read the small print on your membership.

It was in the package they sent me which I called and cancelled.

NO refunds! They decided to kindly let me log back onto the Good Sam site. She sent me a password so I could do.

Lesson: Beware of doing business with them. Not saying you shouldn't, just don't get caught in this trap.

I still have the towing and travel assist. Next year I will see if there other options.

So Good Sam is bad because you didn't read the fine print in the contract? If you didn't want to stay in, why not cancel when you thought of it instead of waiting until they issued a new card for the next year? You now have the card, which you can use for discounts and other perks of having the card - - - if you'd like.

I would recommend looking at Coach Net but looks like they've raised their rates lately.

When I look at my account I can still renew for $79.00 but looks like to join for new members it's gone up to $249.00.

I really do like CN and they've been responsive when needed but $249.00 is way too steep.

Maybe check with your insurance company.

This "membership" is not for towing. I called before my membership ran out but they didn't take action on it.

There have been a few posts in recent history from members who have had good luck with their insurance companies. AAA might be an option as well but there was a thread here in the past couple months where it appeared AAA coverage varied greatly by location.

Search feature should return some good options.

My only point is the GS is not the only option out there if you prefer not to use them when current membership expires.

I've had both over the years and stick with CN simply because of their customer service. I think both provide about the same level of assistance on the side of the road but I found CN's call center to be more customer friendly.

I think we will let our GS membership lapse next time.....don't think its worth it....Bank the membership fee and in a few years you would have enough for a tow........Or AAA might be an option.....

I flip flop between BCAA and GS. I took out BCAA and for the coach and two cars the premium was $125.00 when the renewal cme it was #239.00 for the same coverage. Called GS and they had a special that allowed me to renew at $135.00 so I took that. GS upped the fee at renewal time so we bounced back to BCAA have now bounced back to GS and will see what happens next March.

OK, I had to read this twice, to understand!
So, if I got this right, you paid for renewal, and then changed your mind? I think to have your towing and roadside assist, you have to be a current member? Why did you cancel it, if not refundable? And not wait till the membership expires?
Sorry, I just don't get it?
I have the GS membership for the CG discounts and the discounts at the CW stores, which I rarely use!
I have towing thru my Progressive Ins. for free, comes with the policy! And they will tow me to the shop of my choice, if/when I need that service!
As far as having a CN plan, I am a firm believer, as my coach is in very good shape, and paid for, I will keep the money in my bank account, for those unexpected repairs, and I will draw the interest made, not them!
Everyone's circumstance is different, so what is good for me, is not the way to go for someone else!
Hope this helps? Rail!

Like possum, we've been "flipping" among road service providers to get the lowest (usually an "introductory") price. When Coachnet became part of National Motor Club a couple years ago, they dramatically raised their rates for all-vehicles/all drivers coverage and we haven't been back since. We currently use GS Roadside Assist.

I still have CoachNet Basic roadside assistance at $79.00 annually. One flat tire or a short tow and the membership easily pays for itself.

The new plan they offer at $249.00 seems like a scaled down extended warranty. Would not be interested at that price. I just want roadside assistance.

Glad to see when I log in to my account I can still renew my roadside assistance plan for the same $79.00.

We must be in the minority. We've used GS twice in four years on a five year contract. We're very satisfied with the service and follow-up.
