Actually the tow bar slides through the bike rack mount and then into your receiver.

how about when you really need them go buy a couple at wally world
when your'e done with then donate them to a local kids charity
1 itmeans not towing them around
2 some kid gets a new bike
3 you can take it off your income tax at full price,because its brand new
4 if you need another reason this ain't your solution

To, jeepsrule get a double hitch, it has two 2" openings bottom for ball for toad top for bike carrier. Can be found at most stores that sell trailer hitches. Found mine at Northern Tool. "ENJOY"

For us... it is really important to have some way to exercise so we also carry a "trainer" which allows us to set the rear bike wheel in it... converting it to a stationary bike for exercise.

As pointed out earlier... when full time the last thing you want to do is use up a storage bay with something that can be stored elsewhere. I'd keep the bikes... get a quality bike rack... and begin looking for destinations with high quality bike trails that can be used safely. We're currently at Cal Expo in Sacramento and are right next to a wonderful bike path that runs >30 miles along the American River green belt.

We retired from Sacramento 14 months ago! It was those wonderful American River bike trails that inspired us to get bikes in the 1st place

That's a good idea. Then could use same bike carrier on the toad to get to trails. Will this affect the towing capacity?
