Just read a post on another forum that talked about Billings having a NO RV Parking ordnance except in RV parks.

It stated that in a public hearing held on the ordnance the local camp ground operators refered to those complaining as freeloaders who dump their tanks along side the road and put their trash in other peoples cans, that most were Escapees out of Texas and other states.

Long story short, the other forum is supporting a boycott of Billings Montana until they become RV friendly.

I have followed that thread....the complainant and the leader is a K.O.A.. CG owner......ironic part of this......the HQ for K.O.A. is Billings Montana...I wonder if it all fits together..There are some great KOA parks and some that are not...the ones that are not popular need to eliminate competition or reconsider business practices.....I guess HQ figures its easier to get rid of alternative parking sites first...

The interesting part is that KOA HQ, in writing, distances itself from the actions of the owners. I joined KOA last year. Instead of renewing that membership this year, I wrote them a letter, explaining why I wasn't renewing. I got a form letter back. I'm sure that it was a form letter because they only addressed one of the four issues that I raised. They claim that the CG owners are independent business people who pursue their own goals. In my letter, I raised concern about the damage being done to the KOA brand by substandard parks carrying the KOA logo and the militancy, including name calling, by some of the KOA owners.

KOA states that they recognize that people who stay over at Wal-Marts are also their customers.

I also wrote to the Billing newspaper, complaining that they allowed the KOA owner to express her opinions (and call RVers names) without identifying her as a KOA owner. I have no problem with her expressing her opinion but want others to understand her bias.

I won't be going to Billings anytime soon.

Nor will we......I never renewed our KOA membership either.......only stayed at one park in our time away last year that i would consider as getting our moneys worth, if only in enjoyment and not value
