Black like soot around lights and A/C vents

Just got the DP (03 Damon Ultrasport 3889) out of storage and DW reminded me that I needed to clean the ceiling since there seem to be a black like soot around the lights and A/C vents. Has anyone else have had this problem? This will be our second season with a diesel pusher.

So far we have been able to clean the areas by using a vacuum cleaner with the brush attachment a couple of times a year.

Any ideas what might cause this to happen?

Dust and pollution in the atmosphere. At you S&B you have an air filter that grabs a lot of the crud. There may, or may not, be a filter in the RV.

It is what I call diesel dust. The back of the coach creates a vacuum as you go down the road and the engine compartment is often not sealed air tight from the house. The ventilation system will try to balance the air pressure and sucks the diesel exhaust in thru any crack it can find, thus..diesel dust.
Spend some time and money and apply expanding foam in engine compartment areas that attach to the house and ir should help. I had one coach that took 4 cans of foam.

And if you leave windows open while going down the road because someone tells you that you cannot drive with the AC on and you have to have the windows open it makes it MUCH worse.

Not us but the previous owners were told that and they relayed it to us so that we also would know that you cannot have the AC on and have to have the windows open while driving ........

There may be diesel exhaust leakage coming from under the bed area, which sometimes is not sealed as well as it should be. It can get sucked back into the coach when driving down the road, especially with windows or vents open. Of course, the exhaust is all supposed to be going out the pipe anyway, so maybe a problem there?

But if the "soot" is just powder and not oily, it probably isn't diesel exhaust.
