So let's say your grey water tank was getting full and you decided to empty your dishwater into the toilet.

Let's also say your dishwater had an unidentified object in it that you heard clanking as the toilet flushed. (Probably a fork or spoon)

Would you panic? I'm...ummmm...asking for a friend.

Turn the water off and send a magnet on a string down the hole.

That happened to us. We just ignored it. It never affected anything after 6 years so we assumed it was just mired in there or it amazingly turned the right direction and slipped through the sewer hose to the exit. Don't worry about it.

We boondocked a lot and were always dumping the dish water in the toilet. In the future we filled the toilet bowl with the water BEFORE emptying the toilet. That way we could see/hear if anything foreign dropped into the bowl before flushing.

Besides what could possibly go wrong? Yep, until your black tank is full and you absolutely have to dump and the fork is turned sideways across the valve getting clogged with TP and the tank is not draining anymore. It sounds like a $600 repair bill just waiting to happen. Will it be tomorrow or next week, maybe in six months. A clog just waiting to happen.

The information is out there, all you have to do is let it in.

I would not sleep at night knowing that object is down there just waiting for the right moment to clog the black tank then laugh at me.

I dropped a pair of reading glasses down the poop hole once. Since Sharon had the smallest hands I asked her to reach down the hole and retrieve them for me. For some reason she denied the request

I used the awning pole and fished them out along with some pretty cool streamers.

Funny, I've got "friends" like that too!

Drain your black tank as usual, the only thing it can do is get caught in the valve, but that's unlikely. Of course, if you (I meant your friend!) are dead set on recovering said fork or spoon, than a different approach is needed . . .

Dump the tank - flush, flush, flush with clean water while watching what comes out. (clear section on stinky slinky) if no luck remove the toilet - easy job = shut off the water, remove waterline, remove the 2 closet bolts holding it to the floor - now you can access the tank with a flashlight and mirror to locate it and fish the utensil to the hole and grab it. Replace the bowl seal while the toilet is removed. The whole operation is not hard but is a crappy job...

I would not hesitate to dump dishwater (gray water) on the ground outside. Can someone enlighten me as to why it would be preferable to dump into toilet? In many drought areas we are encouraged to used laundry, bath and dish water for our outside needs and I am having a struggle understanding how/why this happens!
