Bought a new truck (to us). Need step mods
Finally replaced my Titan. Got a 2010 Ford F-250 Diesel 4 wheel drive. Have a 27' TT that really needed more truck.
Wasn't looking for 4 wheel drive, but that is what we found after several months of modest looking.
So it is higher than the Titan, but does have nice step bars.
I have attempted online searches for a way to extend the width the steps. That is the only real short coming of the steps. If I could just bolt some form of extension on to the six steps that added 2 to 4 inches of non slip footing, that would really improve things a lot.
I keep a folding step in the truck for my 91 year old mother (we care take her and live in the same house). She is nearly blind. I guide her feet with my hands as she gets in and out.
Wife and I have learned our on ways to safely get in and out, but wider steps would sure help.
It may not be clear from the photos, but the step are the width of a male shoe.

I know it's not what you are looking for but these sound like they sure would be handy for your situation. Maybe someone will come up with a cheaper alternative.

Or you could find a metal fabricator who could modify yours

Buy some thick aluminum diamond plate, cut it out in an oblong pattern that is about an inch or so wider all the way around and then bolt it on to the current step.

I would just get some running boards. I never liked those tiny steps.

My f150, however, has regular factory running boards and she has difficulty standing with half her feet on the running boards. I’m considering a set for my truck soon.

The AMP steps are the way to go for what your asking. Very wide step when deployed, and hides away nicely

I'm a fan of running boards cause they have the added benefit of protecting the lower rocker panels from stone chips and eventual rusting.

Thanks for the input guys. Only one that has difficulty is mom. I think I will just make her a custom step.

Yep! What he said. Sounds perfect, you can have the diamond plate cut and all you need is a drill.
