You might get more support if you explain WHY you're asking everyone to boycott Exxon/Esso/Mobil gas.

You realise that all gas goes basically into a communal tank at the depot and it does not matter what the station or the tank truck is labeled. We would only be hurting the smalltimer who franchises the station at the corner and not the supplier. If they do anything in reaction they will probably just raise the price the stations asking for extra deliveries will be paying. This could backfire very badly and cause prices to go up higher and faster.

I'm convinced------I should not have passed this on------sometimes the "messenger" has to admit it was wrong.

Everyone needs to understand,------This is a holiday weekend-a lot of people visit family and travel on the holiday weekends. The fuel companies are just taking advantage of the extra fuel consumption. It has been done for many years.

It is puzzling to me that the oil companies continue to raise the price of gasoliine, and then continue to post record setting profits each quarter. I understand the war in the gulf and all the other variables, but can't they tighten their belt a bit too?

I heard that they have to keep posting huge profits - if they don't they will not have the money to explore for more oil. I doubt that - they always will.

I guess that we can be part of the problem or part of the solution. If we can't influence the price of gas by "voting with our feet" how about if we start pressuring the politicans to do somehting about the speed limits. Each and everyone of us knows that the faster you go the more fuel you consume. So if the price is "somehow" related to a supply and demand issue lets try to reduce the demand.
That's my two cents worth.

I do not know about in the US, but here in Canada we pay approximately 43% taxes by the time it is in our tank.
So, government likes high prices as it makes their budget management look good, and the energy companies make big bonuses based on total shareholder return (you if you have stock in them). They have got us right where they want us.
