We got a new to us 1997 ford e heavy duty class c v-10 this thing does not have power brakes . I thought all trucks of this size would or should have them , has any one had this happen to them ?( I feel like a dummy ) that said is it possible to retro fit ? a cost guess ? is it worth it ? thanks in advance .

It does have power brakes. You could not stop it if it didn't. The power brakes are powered by the power steering pump.

is there any thing to boost them more they feel like 1952 breaks

Hi and welcome.
I believe you do have power brakes.
I am thinking your power brakes are in need of repair.
I have included a pics of what my 2010 V 10 brake system looks like in the front of my RV

A worn belt. a relief valve in the power steering pump that is weak.

Sounds like you have hydroboost system problems. If it's on the pressure (pump) side, though, I'd expect the steering to be affected as well since the hydraulic pressure provides both steering and brake boost.

i don't think they have made a vehicle without power brakes for at least 40 years.

Had a 84 jeep cj 7 without power brakes or power steering. 27 years is pretty close to 40 now that I think about it. Sounds like a new thread, what was the last vehicle sold in the US without power brakes and power steering?
