Smile His name is Ben

We just rescued this little dog . I went outside early one morning and
he was asleep on the seat of our golfcart . We could not find out who
he belonged to , so he is still here .

We love to RV a lot so we are planning on taking him with us . So far
the training is going fair , he loves the Motorhome , but not so much a
leash .

We have no idea what kind of breed (breeds ?) he is .
If anyone knows , will you please let us know what you think he is or
if you have any tips on training him to travel .
This is our first dog in the RV ( we have had dogs before ) so we could
use some information .
Thanks

He looks to be mostly Labrador retriever, but if you want to know for sure there are dog DNA tests

Yeah, I would say a lab mix. The ears are a bit long, so he has something else, maybe some kind of hound. Leash training takes time and patience. What exactly does he do on a leash, refuse to walk or leap around?

Here are my doggies at their usual positions:

Susitna (or "Susi"), on the left, is 1 y.o.

Alyeska (or "Aly"), on the right, is 3 y.o.

We named them after places in Alaska, the place where I met my current girlfriend of 11 years.

He was just sitting there , he's starting to walk a little now !
We have hope , but I hope he does not get as large as a Lab .
He's not very big now , I am sure he has some growing to do though.
Thanks!

Yeah, I had a few like that. I have a bunch of Chihuahuas, if I have one that is scared of walking, I pair them up with an old pro and they learn it's fun to walk. Being he's your only, I guess that won't work. lol You can try treats if he's food motivated. Then he can see being in a leash means food.

We travel with 3 Cocker Spaniels. They really travel well! During the day they take over the dash and create dog art on the windshield. At night they take over the bottom bunk or jump into our bed.

That's how we got him to walk a little , with treats , he loves food.
He was really skinney and starved when we found him , so treats
work for everything . He spent the night in his cage last night for the first
time ( we tried that because he's going through the chewing everything stage)
and he slept the whole night.

Animals are more like people than some people I know. They don't judge. They love unconditionally. They at times are our best friends. Where would we be without these amazing creatures. Our companions thru life from our childhood to now I bet you can name each pet with a funny story ....
