We decided on an American Cocker Spaniel that we rescued 3 years ago. She was 10 months old at that time. Cockers don't like to get too far away from their pack, so we don't have to worry about her getting out by accident and running away.

Good luck with your decision.

As you can see below, we travel with two furry four=legged children. Fancy is a female lab/chow mix which we purchased from SPCA as a 6 week old. She is now 11, and enjoys rving very much. LB (Little Bit) is a male Maltese (6 pounds). He was the runt of a litter we got from DW's niece. He is 15 months old and thinks he is a big dog. LB also loves rving. What ever breed you get, just dtake good care of them and give them plenty of attention and love.

We love the Cairn Terrier because he's rugged, intelligent (perhaps a bit too much for his own good!), doesn't really shed (does have to get stripped every three months or so) and has minimal dander (big help in the allergy area!).

The first view of "the world outside" ours had was in the motorhome and he's always been a fantastic traveler.

He's also pretty tolerant of our antics, as seen in this shot modeling some of my wife's work...

thanks for all the replies, we too like to get dogs from the pound, our previous ones, was a golden retriever that her mother brougnt to our barn in her teeth when she was a pup and dropped off and the other was just a dukes mixture from a rescue group and both were just the best pets we could ever have asked for, we loved them both and initially said we would never have another dog to replace them, but now we find we just miss having a loving pet.

We have a TerrorDachs as I like to call him (Dachshund Terrier) and is a rescue dog (I watched him be dumped from a car at a c-store). He was about 10-12 weeks old when we got him. He's all of about 15 lbs., was easily house trained, smart and will steal you heart with his big brown eyes and easy going personality. And best of all he loves the MH! Thru the years are best pets have all been mutts!

We had a toy poodle for 16 years. He lover to travel with us. I thought poodles were sissy dogs but our kids were allergic to our other dog so we got them a poodle. Then I found how smart they were. When he got old we got the toy And I had so much fun with both of ours.

We travel with a West Highland Terrier,(Westie), that we got from Oklahoma Westie Rescue a little over a year ago. He is now 2 and loves to travel. He doesn't shed and once he gets to know you he will not leave you alone.

We have 6 at home and are currently looking to upgrade to an "A" so a couple more (mini doxies) can go with. I'm currently camping in a TC with my jeep dog Dylan, a mix breed from the local shelter.
