2 poodles. A black standard and a black mini. Thankfully my wife and I are both dog groomers.

Sam, a greying standard poodle. Sam has been my best pal and traveling companion for almost 12 years now. He has splashed in the Pacific, the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico and many lakes and streams inbetween. Other than slowing down, he is still healthy and anxious to go. Sam has flown with me also and handled that like a trooper.
Love the boy with all my heart.

We adopted our Treeing Walker Coonhound from a rescue. We just think he's the best dog ever.

I have a boxer/bulldog mix that was dumped on me by my DD when she (dog) was 4 mos old. Now she's been with me for 4 yrs and loved her like a GD. Goes RV'ing with us and since DW still works, she's also my travelling companion when I drive over to Yuma for the winter.

Wow!!! Rare is the topic that gets this many replies so quickly. I'm of the opinion that animal lovers are just good humans. This group is full of animal lovers, for sure.

BTW, I chose Lily, who is half yorkie, half maltese because she doesn't shed, will stay under 7# and has lots of energy. She is actually Sena's puppy, but since I get to clean up after them both, I picked.

A great dog breed is a Basenji , It's a med. sized dog that is great to travel with. (1) the dog doesn't bark, it can make noises but it doesn't bark and is mostly quiet. (2) the dog is short haired and doesn't shed much at all. (3) the breed are mostly friendly animals and are great with kids and most anyone. This is not a watch dog but a great freind to travel with. They are excellent bird dogs when trained. Just so long as you let them run sometimes they are happy.

Have had two golden retrievers, both lovely dogs, but finally got sick of the hair! Now have a miniature poodle and a miniature schnauzer. Neither shed, but both too noisy for my liking when traveling in the MH. The features I would be looking for in a replacement, eventually, would be 1. NO SHEDDING, 2. Love to travel. 3. Like to exercise but not compulsive (no border collies!). 4. Love people. And of course, 5. Love me.

Four - coun't 'em - FOUR miniature dachshunds; , three are wire hair (wild boar), Forrest, Karl and Jean Louise, and one rescue, a smooth named Wilma that's a pie-bald. Generally they are all good citizens and agreeable about travel.

You should try a Standard Poodle, Ive had 5 over the years and have worked as a groomer for over 30 years and have never met a barker. Very athletic but content with a swim or good run. Color does seem to make a difference though. The reds and apricots are more hyper. Browns and blacks seems to be the calmest. My Toy Poodle never barks but my sisters schnauzer never shuts up though I do love the breed otherwise.

We have a Bicheon that is now 8 years old. Does not shed and barks only when someone comes to the door. On a 5 hour drive she sleeps 4 hrs and 55 minutes.
