Hi again
I am wondering if anyone has had this problem with their gas tank cover. When my husband went to put in gas he turned the cap and the top broke off in his hand. Now the bottom of the cap is stuck in the tank opening. He has tried looking all over google and no one has had the same problem.

Luckily we are at home. But the tank is almost empty and we don’t know if there is enough gas to go some where and where would we go.

Also where do we order a new cap for a 2001 Fleetwood Pace Arrow?

I would appreciate any constructive help.

Thanks in advance,
comealong

If it is a Ford, You can get one from your ford dealer. The Ford chassis is delivered to Fleetwood with the tank in the frame. Just tell them you wan't a cap for a Ford F53 chassis. This is NOT a common problem.

Most RV Gas Caps are fairly standard types... So getting a new one should not be a problem.

Getting the old one out however may take special tools.. Without seeing the cap and the damage I can not advise but odds are a pair of common sissors (Kitchn type are heaver duty) may do the job.. Points into any handy hole and apply rotational pressure as well as downward... But I stress the word ODDS in that statement.

No guarantees.

I could do it with other tools I have but... alas, I'm not where you are less you are where I am and you already said you are not.

To remove the cap, I would first try a pair of needle nose pliers and wedge into the cap and remove. If there is nothing to grip,I would drill two holes into the cap. About 3/8 inches deep. Don't drill all the way through.(you don't want a bunch of shavings in the tank) Use needle nose pliers or stick two screwdrivers in the holes and use a third to turn it backwards. Make sure you drill into the plastic only. (no sparks)
