Bug repellant. ground sage

sitting around a campfire we have used ground sage from dollar store. sprinkled it around chair area and put some in the fire. seems to work well for us. though we would pass it on...happy camping.

Good tip. Do you use it for ground bugs or flying bugs?

Don't laugh at me but I actually use an oscillating fan around out camp fire or deck when the mosquitos get bad. They can't fly into the area and the oscillating keeps your human smell away and they leave you alone. You can laugh, but once you try it you will be laughed at by other campers cause you will use it all the time because it works. Lol

Yep, we do the same thing.
Plug a fan into the outside socket, point it in our direction and we're good to go.
I'm one of those lucky people that biting bugs mostly leave alone, but they seem to come from miles around to attack my wife.
If the fan will keep the bugs off of her it'll work for nearly anyone.

New Thermacell product that's more economical to use

i was going to buy a halo Thermacell and started looking on the net and found a new thermacell product called the BACKPACKER Repeller. Doesn't have the light like the Halo BUT it use the 4 oz, 8oz, or 16oz back packing canisters instead of the small 12 hour ones that all the previous Thermacell use. So instead of trying to refill the previous ones even the 4oz canister will give you 90 hours and you can buy those at sporting good shops and even some walmarts for far less. Then you can buy the packets of just the mats which they are selling now. A reasonable cost savings. Weighs 4oz comes with a soft cinch storage bag and several mats to start. Super compact and economical!

Found mine at Academy Sports + Outdoors | Quality Sporting Goods | Top Hunting, Fishing & Outdoor Gear which is Academy Sports for 29.99 on sale compared to regular price of 39.99
