Bumped from FL RV spot!

OK, I know FL is snowbird capital and getting a spot for Jan can be crazy. I had a spot reserved with paid deposit for two weeks in Tampa Bay area so I could attend the RV Super show. I had already been bumped from another park that the lots are owned by individual owners. It seems the lot owners kids decided to use the space for thenselves. They returned deposit immediately with an apology back in October. After scrambling, and 17 NO's, I booked a spot. I was told that the actual spot was only partially guaranteed and that their long time guest may extend their stay but they would move me to another spot. We'll today the park called and said a previous client wanted to book 4 months starting Dec 15 and she bumped me. I said OK, so where will I be moved to in the Park? Now the problem! All the full hook up sites with 50 amp are gone and they will put me in the overflow lot next to office but they can only guarantee me a water tree hookup, no sewer, and maybe a 30 amp electric.
At this point I asked if I refuse, will I get my deposit back. NO, we are applying your deposit to what is available. Not happy, what would you do. I could survive with 30 amp, but no sewer is a deal breaker!

Well, if 2 weeks without sewer is a deal breaker, I hope you paid your deposit with a credit card. Should be easy to get the credit card company to reverse the charges if you did. You've tried to resolve the issue with the vendor, and you are not getting what they said you would. Shouldn't be any trouble at all...

That is horrible. Hopefully you used a credit card for the deposit. If so, call the credit card company and have the charges reversed. Make sure to write a full review on yelp or elsewhere and share how you were treated. In the least, they owe you your deposit back if you decide not to stay there.

Which park?

They need to give you your deposit back if you are not getting what you paid for (a full hookup site, right?)

How bad go you want to go to Tampa RV Show?

Personally I would contcat Credit Card Company and dispute charges......give an honest accounting of WHY and cancel with CG telling them WHY and that you have reversed charges due to 'services not being provided as charged'

At this point I do not want to release name since we are still in negotiations. They do not take credit cards, so I sent a check. My bad. Now I will have to see if I can find another rv park that will take me for a week. I will apply the deposit to 1 week and stay in one flow if they will guarantee a 30 amp electric and water hookup to save my loss of deposit!

Sort of went thru the same thing last year. Kept moving a couple of times. We ended up buying a lot in 55 plus park and ended the fiasco.

If you offer to take them to small claims court they may be forthcoming with a refund. Depends on what the refund policy/contract says.

And please tell us the name of the park.

Do you need air conditioning in the winter? If not, 30 amp should be plenty. I am wintering in San Diego on 15 amp which all that's needed for cooking and battery charging. My black tank takes 2 months to fill so I transfer water from the grey to black tank to fill them both equally so I can go a whole month between needing to dump. Surely they will let you dump somewhere in the park.

Well, if it were me, I would take that overflow lot next to the office.

I might just have an overflow problem the day I leave........

If your tanks are big enough this would be an option even if you have to dump once while there. however you have every right to be upset about the way they are treating you.

Note to self: no checks cc only....I think you should share the campgrounds name to forewarn others.

Further, hire "BluePill" for conflict resolution, I hear he 'stinks' at it!

several early warning signs.

partially guaranteed = No guarantee, not even a promise
no credit card = trouble, problems, loss of money.

sounds like a place NOT to do business with. there actions Show it.

last in, first out.

I hope your plans work out somehow.

dumping your tanks in middle of their parking lot when you leave.....huh, would be amusing...........i would suggest posting the park name here when you settle with them......word of mouth on this forum will do more damage than a pile of do do in their lot.......................
