Bumps in the night

A few months ago I pulled into a state camp ground in Middle alabama. My pups and I were really tired so went to bed about 930. About 1130 something ran (or tried to run) between unit and towed. It hit towbar so hard it shook the MH. Both pups jumped up and sounded the alarm. I jumped up with a big spot light . went out to see what happened. I was sure someone or something would be on the ground with at least a leg injury. I scanned everwhere and saw nothing. In AM asked front office if anything had gone on that they knew about. They said no. We got ready to leave and in the next couple of hours several people stopped by to see what happened. Genereal thought was maybe a deer had cut through. Any one else had this happen.
